The Timeless Perfection of Pearls

Whether it's your grandmother’s heirloom necklace or a simple pair of studs that matches any outfit, pearls are the perfect accent for every woman's wardrobe. It's no wonder - pearls have been touted as the symbol of perfection. The pearl is the oldest known gem. In fact, traces of the oldest pearl jewelry date back to 520 BC, found in the sarcophagus of a Persian princess currently displayed in the Louvre in Paris. Royalty or not, pearls are fitting for anyone!

Pearl in Latin directly translates as “unique”, and rightfully so, as no two pearls are identical. The creation of a pearl is truly an extraordinary event. Unlike gemstones or other precious metals which are derived from mines, pearls are produced by shelled mollusks, like oysters and clams. Worldly gems must be cut, polished and perfected, but pearls are refined by their makers and require no treatment to establish their beauty.

Adopt this truly timeless trend or find something for the “one-of-a-kind” lady in your life with these uniquely beautiful pieces all available at Zales.

Prep School Classics: Our Favorite Spring Styles

From brightly-colored polo shirts to boat shoes and monogrammed tote bags, this spring is all about preppy, clean-cut style. Prep-school looks are popping up everywhere – and it’s easy for you to get in on the trend. Here are 5 easy ways to rock a classic, preppy look (without breaking the bank).

  1. Hair-stylin’- Take a trip back to grade school with a simple ponytail or single braid – quintessential hairstyles that earn bonus points for being fast and low-maintenance!
  2. Pull on a polo – Scoop up a basic, fitted polo shirt in a bright shade and add a monogram to earn major prep-school cred. If bright shades aren’t your scene, stick to classics like navy and add a pop of color with a coral monogram.
  3. Carry it all – Store everyday essentials for the spring and summer seasons in a canvas tote bag bearing your monogram. It’s a polished way to lug around all those items you just can’t leave home without!
  4. Pretty in pearls – Add a prep-school-ready strand of pearls to your newly-mongrammed polo shirt for a pulled-together look.
  5. Put your name on it – A monogram necklace or name necklace is an essential for spring’s preppy styles. The gold and silver versions we’ve seen around our offices are eliciting some serious style envy. You can find yours at Zales.com!

Three-Stone Rings: Past, Present and Future

You may be drawn to the classic, yet beautiful look of the three-stone ring, but do you know the true significance of the design? It’s said that the stones each symbolize the past, present and future love of the cherished couple - destined to map the momentous phases of the couple’s relationship. That’s a pretty deep thought crafted into one beautiful piece of jewelry.

Diamond Engagement Options

The three-stone diamond engagement ring not only displays the love shared, but it also proudly showcases that commitment. It can be displayed through the traditional diamond look, a black diamond look, or a pink diamond look.

 Promise Ring Options

Three-stone designs aren't limited to engagement rings. Promise your love with a ring celebrating romance’s amazing journey.  Look at these promise ring options in white gold, yellow gold and rose gold.

Gemstone Options

Available in a spectrum of colors, three-stone rings flourish in a multitude of gemstones.  Take a look at the brilliant spring shades of these emerald, blue topaz, sapphire and amethyst rings.

Looking For Luck? Lucky You!

Evil eyeOh the silly things we do for luck! From keeping rabbit's feet (which really doesn't seem all that lucky for the bunny!), to wearing evil eyes or keeping a lucky number, most everyone has that one special talisman that keeps the good luck flowing.

For many people, that 'lucky' item is a piece of jewelry. Lucky for you (get it?), Zales has all kinds of lucky looks available!

ShamrockThe most obvious, of course is the shamrock or clover (see how we got a St. Patty's Day reference in there?). Zales has a bunch (pun alert!) of shamrocks and clovers - including some that dazzle with diamonds or gemstones like this fabulous emerald version. See all of our sharp shamrock looks (say that five times fast) here.

Another symbol of good luck is the horseshoe. Lots of people believe that to hang a horseshoe with the ends pointing upwards is good luck as it acts as a storage container of sorts for any good luck that happens to be floating by. To hang it with the ends pointing down is bad luck as all that floating good luck will fall just fall out.  All that being said, this super-cute DOUBLE horseshoe pendant is twice the luck! As an aside, all our horseshoe jewelry points up - so that's a good sign (and just good fashion sense too).

HorsehoeSome other lucky icons used by Americans (and some Canadians) include rabbits, ladybugs, wishbones and elephants (this super cute jade one is EXTRA lucky!). In other cultures, dragons, dragonflies, turtles, fish and bamboo are lucky tokens.

In the immortal words of Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry, "Do you feel lucky?"  Whatever talisman you use as your personal symbol of good luck, you're certain to find a super stylish version at your local Zales store or at Zales.com.

Seeing the World Through Rose-Colored Jewelry

You’ve seen the trend pop up everywhere, but aren’t quite sure how to pull it off. Not to worry, Zales is here for you. Rose gold’s rising popularity is due to the fact that it’s so versatile and complements all skin tones. Zales offers a variety of rose-toned pieces, including rings, earrings, necklaces and watches.
The best aspect of rose gold is that it allows you to show off your individuality by providing a subtle twist to traditional jewelry. Imagine holding out your hand and flaunting your new rose gold engagement ring. Not in the market for engagement rings? This pink amethyst ring is a showstopper and would work perfectly as a right hand ring.

For those who want simple sophistication, a delicate band is a great way to incorporate rose gold into your jewelry wardrobe.

Rose gold also works beautifully combined with other gemstones. Add pink sapphire and amethyst to the mix to get these dazzling studs. A fan of morganite? Take a look
at these beauties in cushion-cut and heart styles. (These would be a great substitute for conventional engagement rings as well.)

Rose Gold

PZALE1-10427256t400One of the most effortless ways to incorporate rose tones into your everyday lifestyle is with watches. This rose-tone stainless steel mesh bracelet watch is a dainty and feminine look from Skagen. Also from Skagen is another great rose-tone watch with mother-of-pearl dial, for those that want a classic, timeless look.

Rose gold adds a dash of romance to any piece, and Zales makes showcasing this trend quite easy, wouldn’t you say?
